What Do You Want?

  • By Jack Skeen

I can’t think of a more simple, yet profoundly important question for you to answer. What do you want?

If you already have what you want, you aren’t likely to get anything more. Wanting is the beginning of all motivation and change.

The Essence of Desire: A Universal Drive
Wanting more is the very essence of the human experience. It’s the invisible force that propels us to seek improvement, to dream beyond our current reality, and to set goals that inspire us to push our limits. It’s the impulse that transforms the everyday into the extraordinary. Without it, our lives would stagnate, and our existence would lack purpose and direction.

If you only want more of what you have, you are likely on the right track. Keep headed down the road you are on, only do more of it. Set your goals a bit higher. Commit to putting more energy into your current strategy.

Igniting the Flame of Change
If you want something different than what you have, then you’ll need to change course. It’s often hard to face our desire for something different. Instinctively we know that change of this kind won’t occur easily. It will likely require doing things differently than we have been doing them. It may require letting go of some things that have become comfortable and familiar. You may need to make changes that feel unsettling because they are outside of your comfort zone. Always remember that embracing change is an act of courage and a key component of self-growth.

Setting Higher Goals: Challenging the Status Quo
One powerful way to harness the potential of wanting more is by setting higher goals.  Continue moving forward with your current strategy, but challenge yourself to reach for new heights. When you set your goals a bit higher, you push the boundaries of what’s possible. This proactive approach to life can lead to extraordinary achievements.

I imagine most of us settle for far less than we could have in life. It is the easy path. It is only when we ask tough questions of ourselves that we might hear some small voice from deep within our souls that wants something more.

  • – Do you want your life to matter, to make a difference in the world?
  • – Do you want to live with greater passion and aliveness?
  • – Do you want to know and be known more openly and courageously?
  • – Do you want to love and be loved with greater passion?
  • – Do you want to have a deeper sense of belonging and connectedness of life?
  • – Do you want to see life in a bigger, deeper and more meaningful way?

The Contented Soul: A Beautiful Destination

Our goal is to become a contented soul, a state to be cherished. It reflects a profound sense of inner peace, a profound satisfaction with one’s current life situation. When you’ve achieved a substantial portion of what you’ve desired, contentment can be seen as a beautiful destination.

But one might wonder: does contentment mean the end of wanting more? The answer is not necessarily. Contentment can serve as a strong foundation upon which you can play an even bigger game and create a more fulfilling life.

So, what do you want? The answer to this question is the compass that will guide you through life’s ever-changing landscape. It’s the fundamental question that invites you to explore your desires, set your intentions, and embark on a transformative journey. Embrace the power of wanting more, and you’ll find that the possibilities are limitless. As you continue this journey, remember that life’s most profound moments often lie beyond the horizon, waiting for you to seize them.

If you want any of these things listed in the bullets above, we are on a journey together. We are Seekers. Please let me know who you are:
