Do I need a coach?

What a great question!  Sometimes I have been hired to coach a business leader who is certain she doesn’t need a coach.  In truth, no one needs a coach.  You can probably do just fine figuring things out on your own.

But everyone who wants to boost their career would definitely benefit from the assistance of a talented coach.  The role of a coach is to see what you can’t see and then to help you see it.  What opportunities might you be missing that, if you could see them, would change things substantially?  How are you limiting yourself?  What relationships are you neglecting that you need to build?  What attitudes are you holding onto that are holding you back?

No one can see all of this without help, just as you don’t know if your makeup is right or your hair is combed without looking in a mirror.  Only those who are arrogant or ignorant fail to see the benefit of having an objective and insightful review of how they are doing their job.

One tool I have developed is an “Executive Tune-up”.  It is a highly personalized 360 degree feedback instrument that gathers insight as to how those who work with you see you.  It asks very pointed questions like, “What do people say about me when I am not in the room?” and “What is the most important thing she needs to change to be more effective?”

Would you like to know how people view you and how you can shift some of those perceptions? Do you need a coach?
